Is the meaning of the control word FPU for each thread or for each process?

I need to change the default FPU control word in a multi-threaded application. Is this parameter for a thread or for each process? Does it have different scopes for Mac OS X and Windows?

This is for threads on Windows. Not sure about OS-X, of course.

Beware of the nasty things you may encounter if you use libraries that expect the control word to be installed by default. Almost all of them do.
