IPhone OpenAL tone generation

So, I looked around for a while to create a variable tone on the iPhone using OpenAL, the problem is that Apple rejected the ALUT OpenAL part, which has alutCreateBufferWaveform that would be ideal for this. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make a tone generator using OpenAL on the iPhone SDK. All I need is the ability to constantly reproduce a particular frequency tone again and again.

This is the last resort, so sorry if that sounds stupid.

This is not exactly what you are looking for, but it can create a similar effect.

I used this tutorial

create an engine that could play recorded sound at different levels. Therefore, despite the fact that I have to play sound from an existing * .caf file, I can modulate the step and control loop so that it generates any frequency, length or volume that I am looking for.
