SQL Server Upgrade 'Developer> Enterprise'

Last year, my company acquired Visual Studio Pro 2008, which had a β€œfree” version of SQL Server Developer that I used for development.

We want to upgrade a copy of the developer version to the corporate one (since now we want to use the server as a production server) and have purchased licenses for this.

Now ... Morally we are clean ... However, does this comply with MS T & C licensing?

We have the Developer installed, as we want it, and really don’t want to remove SQL Server Dev just to install SQL Server Ent. Is there a way to transfer the license key to our corporate key without reinstalling?

Thanks,

Jd

Upgrading from a developer to an enterprise is a supported upgrade path , so you can simply install new bits on top of the existing ones (assuming your developer is still in RTM and has not fixed either SP or CU on it).

If the license you purchased covers the use of the developer version for commercial purposes, it is clearly not called in Licensing and I cannot answer this part.
