What are the requirements for running .net application on windows ce5?

What are the requirements to run the framework.net target application for Windows CE 5?

If I try to run the application that I developed for Windows Mobile 6, I will get the following error.

Cannot find "Project Name" (or one of its components) Make sure that the path and file name are correct and that all required libraries are available

My application is a simple greeting application. What might cause such an error message?

Is there a dertimine way which version of the .NET framework framework works on my system?

You can run cgacutil , which is located in the Windows folder. It should provide you with the version number of the compact frame installed on the device. You probably don't have the right compact frame.

If you do not have cgacutil, its likely that the compact structure will not be installed on the device at all. In this case, download the latest version of the framework (currently 3.5, available here ). Installation may take up about 7 MB of space from your main memory. If the storage space is hard, it can be installed in external memory with some potential consequences, as discussed here

The problem is caused by what you are interested in ... What version of the compact frame is installed on your system and, first of all, if the version of the compact frame is installed.
I suggest you download the version that matches your evolving environment and install it on your device.

By default, Windows Mobile 5 comes preloaded with the .NET Compact Framework 1.0 SP3 .

An application designed for Windows Mobile 6 will at least use the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 SP2 , so make sure it is installed on your Windows Mobile 5 device.

You can download it here , but it’s generally recommended that you install the latest available version, if supported by the device.
