How to create a screen that allows the user to draw a “sketch” with a finger?

I am developing an application that will allow users to "draw" on the screen with a finger - so that users can write, draw shapes - like a whiteboard.

The problem is that I'm new to programming iphone graphics, I would really appreciate it if the community provided a link to sample code or suggested a direction, like what I should learn for this. Thank you
