Does any value for Google “expire” from the date Fri, January 01, 1990 00:00:00 GMT?

I looked at the response headers for my GMail account and noticed that the Fri date, January 01, 1990 00:00:00 GMT, displayed again and again as the value "Expires". I believe this is just a simple constant to make sure the browser understands that this is a past of freshness. But is there any meaning for this particular date? One could easily use the same date in 2000, or in 1970, or something else. It's not too bizarre to be someone's birthday or college graduation date or something personal. Maybe this is just arbitrary, but I was wondering if anyone had a good explanation of why this date was chosen.

It doesn’t matter, any date in the past will do the job, someone just chose an arbitrary past date. This means that your browser will not cache the page :)

Your browser understands that "this is good, bye ...", oh, I need to get it again, every time in this case.
