Animated animations on iPhone iPhone, how did they do it?

I played with the Google App for iPhone, and when I browsed the website, the page name appeared on top of the classic status bar with a nice fade animation, after 4-5 seconds the name of the name disappeared with a good fading -out animation.

How did they do it? Did they hide the status bar using [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden: YES animated: YES], and then somehow add the animation to the empty space? in my experience, you cannot fill this space without telling the viewController that you "want a full-screen layout."

Another idea that uses โ€œwants a full-screen layoutโ€ is to hide the status bar using [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden: YES animated: NO] and add UIView as a spy to the controller view and animate it (fade-in / fade - through regular intervals).

Any pointers on how I can achieve this?

You need to hide the iPhone status bar by calling

[UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarHidden = YES;

and add your opinion!

You can add another window on top of the UIStatusBar. There is good example code in the question below, and even a library that can do what you want.
