Problem with Delphi - TPerlRegEx / RegExBuddy

Question

I have a problem with RegEx and Delphi 2k9 (Win32). I get the following error: The first random exception is $ 7C812AFB. Exception class with the message "TPerlRegEx.Compile () - specify the regular expression in RegEx first". I have the latest version of TPerlRegEx from the website. Using its defualt settings (using DLL)

I am including demo source code. It uses code created by RegExBuddy, the latest version.

A runtime error "TPerlRegEx.Compile () - specify a regular expression in RegEx first" means that you called TPerlRegEx.Compile or another method that calls this (for example, TPerlRegEx.Match) without setting the TPerlRegEx.RegEx property. You cannot get this error with code in your question.

Your Unit2.pas file cannot compile with the error "string literals can contain no more than 255 elements." This is something that RegexBuddy does not yet take into account when generating Delphi code. (The next free small update will be.) If you manually split the string into fragments less than 255 characters long (for example, "longstring" becomes "long" + "string"), then the code runs. He does not find any matches.

To make it match your code, I made it load the googleresultstestdata.txt file from disk instead of using a note to make sure that wrapping notes does not add any lines to the text. I also removed all instances of # 13 from the regex. The googleresultstestdata.txt file uses UNIX-style line breaks that map only to \ n or # 10. \ r \ n or # 13 # 10 corresponds to a Windows-style line break.

If you introduce a literal line break in RegexBuddy, then RegexBuddy encodes this as #13#10 in Delphi. If you enter \r\n in RegexBuddy, then RegexBuddy will be coded, like '\r\n' in Delphi. PCRE (used inside TPerlRegEx) interprets \ r and \ n as CR and LF.

Your regex uses redundant capture groups. (?<name>(.*?)) puts .*? inside the numbering capture group and inside the specified group name "name". There is no point in doing this. If you need a named group just use (?<name>.*?)

This does not affect what matches your regular expression, but affects its performance. The big problem is that all those .*? can lead to catastrophic backtracking . Whether this is a problem depends on how you use the regex. If you use it only on your own data and this does not cause problems, you can leave it. But if this is part of an application that processes data provided by the user, then you will need a regular expression that will not be more elegant if it does not match user data.

I divided them into readability, obviously. To assemble them, simply remove line breaks; There must be no spaces in the regular expression.

The biggest problem I've seen with your regex is the bit: '#13#10' . I am not familiar with the Delphi syntax, but this is the only thing I see that can lead to the fact that regex does not compile. RegexBuddy seems to think that \r\n will work, but I got around the problem using \s* ; these are commas that limit the fields in any case, rather than breaking the line.

I also got rid of the excess parentheses inside the named groups; if TPerlRegEx is not radically different from other flavors, they were just riots. Does this regex work for you?
