Full ajax website and SEO

I plan to start a full ajax website project, and I was curious about SEO.

The site will have URLs such as www.mysite.gr/#/category1, etc.

Can Google crawl a site.

Something I should notice about Ajax and SEO

Any reading suggestions are welcome.

thanks

I don't think Google is able to do this (yet) http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/10/proposal-for-making-ajax-crawlable.html

However, you can, of course, make your site usable with or without JavaScript. Thus, browsers will have all the stuff for sweets, and Google (and text browsers) will still be able to navigate your site.

Google supports indexing AJAX sites, but unfortunately, it requires additional work for the developer. See http://code.google.com/web/ajaxcrawling/docs/getting-started.html

In addition to SEO, you also need to think about usability standards. AJAX-dependent site will not work for things like screen readers, as well as spiders. You need a system for graceful degradation. A website that cannot work without JavaScript does not actually function on the website.

Search engines will load the initial page load - what happens to the page (with ajax), after that it is not related to the listing.

Google itself does not crawl ajax content, but advises it on the mechanism. To do this, you first need to change # to #!

The entire process for AJAX SEO content is explained here along with simple asp.net code to get started.
