I don't think SourceSafe has an easy way to do this. But I have not used SourceSafe since 2005. One way you might try is to use section and generation search.
First choose a date in the future, if the error is there, double the length until you find the version without the error.
You just need two well-known points that you need to work with, one when you know that there is an error, and one where you know that the error is missing there, cut these two in half and check the version in the middle. if the error there cuts the upper half in half, if it does not cut the lower half into half.
This will be more effective than searching in each version of the file.
I donβt remember if SourceSafe had a version number for each file, if you couldnβt just use the scroll bar as a guide for where the halftone dot is.
