Google equivalent of Yahoo Placemaker

Does Google have a service similar to Yahoo! Placemaker:

• Developers define structured and unstructured content; feeds, web pages, news, status articles, etc.

• Placemaker identifies, disambiguates, and retrieves locations

• Placemaker returns geographic metadata that determines the rigidity of structured and unstructured content.

I don’t think so, and I would be scared when this happens. Skynet is not far off ..;)

PlaceMaker became PlaceSpotter in 2012. Yahoo! The BOSS API (including PlaceSpotter) closes March 31, 2016. If you are looking for a replacement or alternative, you should check out the CLAVIN open source project or the recently launched Geoparser.io API .
