How to create your own android for Samsung Galaxy

Is it possible for me to create my own version of Android and put it in my samsung spica lite galaxy? I suspect Samsung should put its drivers in open source, since Android has open source?

There, the project for this is called GAOSP , where they upgrade the Galaxy to Android 2.1. I'm not sure about the details of Samsung firmware updates or interactions, but they got it all through git from the google project home page .

You really need affordable drivers for the device, but you will find information through AOSP much more often. I would recommend checking out XDA Developers and MoDaCo to create compatible roms. There are several developers in these places who are very familiar with creating and deploying custom builds for Android.
