Problems Configuring SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

I want to use SQL Server 2005 Express edition as a database for my thesis, but I have a few problems setting it up. I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, SQL 2005 Service Pack 3 (SP3), and Sql Server Management Studio Express.

I opened the Surface Area Sql Server 2005 configuration by clicking on Surface. Service and Connection Configuration> Remote Connections> Local and Remote Connections> Only using TCP / IP. To enable TCP and IP connections, but when I click ok, I get the error message "Alter failed. The error message that you see is often related to the problem of user permissions (you need to run the SQL Server Surface Tuning tool with administrator privileges: when starting the tool, select "Run as administrator").

Did you enable TCP / NamedPipes from SQL Server Configuration Manager?

Since you are using Windows 7, you might be lucky with SQL Server 2008. I remember that I ran into unusual problems since 2005 in Vista, so I can imagine even more weirdness with SQL 2005 to 7.

I work great in 2008 on my Win 7.
