Change tabcontrol tab item in view mode

I am trying to add a control to another TabItem in the design view, but I can only see the first TabItem with all the controls that I previously added, and at the moment I can add hard code controls so I have to compile the program to see the results hardcoded controls.

Any help would be appreciated.

As SnOrfus says, apparently this can create some conflict when you start doing hard coding, although this is unusual for what happens to you, since I can work on creating tab controls, tabs, and manipulating through the design view.

My recommendation would be 1. Verify that a later service pack for Visual Studio is installed. (Check for updates for VS2008) 2. - Start your design with a fresh one, working only on the design. 3. Try using "Wrappanel" or "stackPanel" instead of the canvas or grid inside the tabitem (which will help you with the layout).

If you are using a WrapPanel, you may need to view the scrolling and wrapping behavior of its contents.

Hope this helps.

Recently, I have encountered a problem that sounds like this: the developer does not recognize that you have chosen something different from the first. If you go to the properties dialog of this tabitem control and set the IsSelected property to True, it should display the tab content area.

However, I suspect that the real problem is that you do not have Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed because they fixed it with this update. Unfortunately, Windows Update does not tell you that SP1 exists, even the VS2008 Help> Check for Updates menu tells you this. You will need to go;

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=FBEE1648-7106-44A7-9649-6D9F6D58056E&displaylang=en

to get it yourself. After installation, Tab Control works the way you expected it to work.

PS: Do not forget about 3 security updates for SP1, all of them are 500 MB. Windows Update finds them in order.
