Is it possible to run the iPhone SDK from a flash drive?

I’m developing apps for the iPhone, but I don’t have any money on a Mac mini or on a PC with hackintosh compatible specifications. However, there are several Mac labs at my university that I can access, but which I cannot install new software.

As such, I wonder if there is a way to start the iPhone SDK from a USB drive so that I can start practicing, trying to save enough money for my own machine.

Also, if someone knows other potential solutions to my problem, let me know.

I really appreciate any help that can be provided.

Could you provide an FW800 external hard drive and a copy of 10.6? It should be a little over 100 dollars.

Take them to your Mac lab and install 10.6 on an external hard drive. Then boot to the external hard drive, and for all purposes and tasks you have a “your own” Mac that you can do with whatever you want.

When you are finished, reboot the lab machine from the internal hard drive and it will return to normal operation.

Not being able to configure symbolic links may not, and you cannot install the software, so you probably cannot configure symbolic links.

You can watch Mac Lab boot directly from installing OS X on a flash drive. Then you can install any software you want.
