Learning Windows Development with Linux Background

Question

No, I did not change my operating systems in this matter! In my opinion, at the moment I was exclusively Linux / OSX, and I honestly don’t know anything about Windows development. Visusal *, * .NET, Powershell, WinForms, Win32, not a hint. These are just words for me. This is starting to be a problem because I was tasked with porting Linux / OSX software to Windows, and Cygwin is not starting to cut it. Does anyone have any tips on how to get into Windows development tools? UNIX has millions of introductions, but every Google search for “Windows programmers for Linux” gives the opposite result!

EDIT: To provide more information, I guess what I need most right now is to learn how to compile and cross-compile using Microsoft compilers, an overview of the Windows libraries (I think the stuff is .NET?), And Powershell. Sorry for being so wide. I guess what happens when I sit in front of a Windows machine, I return to the web surfer instead of a programmer, because I don't know any of the standard tools outside of Cygwin.

Is it even possible to use a Windows developer? It takes a considerable amount of time to speed up the work in windows, and if you were instructed to port the code, you probably did not have enough time to get close to speed before starting work. Even having a consultant will provide you with someone to get you going, and occasionally take you off the cliffs.
