What is the default global timeout for an Ajax request in Prototype?

I cannot find how I can bind the option timeout to calling the Ajax prototype or what is the default value for it.

The prototype has no specific timeout functions yet. This seems to be definitely in the work, see Ticket # 220 Prototype . I assume that it uses any global timeout in the browser for XMLHTTPRequests.
