Resharper + Sharepoint = Blocked DLL in GAC

If you go to Sharepoint using Resharper, there are DLL locks in the GAC. This problem blocks the publication of your DLL files in the GAC. How to deal with it?

UPD : here is my development scenario:

VS 2008, resararper 4.5

  • I am developing a website for the _layouts directory and some DLLs for this site (data access level (DAL.dll) for exapmple)
  • There is a link to DAL.dll on the website (DAL.dll in GAC)
  • There is also a local link to DAL.dll on the website (to quickly update the re-cache cache).
  • Everything is good!:)
  • ... but when I need to update DAL.dll in the GAC, I cannot do it - Access deny!
  • Ok, cancel the resharper setting and try again. Done!

I do not want to restart VS every time I have to update my DLLs in the GAC: /

I faced the same problem with both 4.5 and 5.0 eap for vs2008 and vs2010. The only solution I found was to temporarily unload the resharper add-in via the tool menu in 2008 (and the parameters> resharper> suspend in 2010.)

I bet you also use the wspbuilder add-in. A funny symptom of this problem is that the c: \ windows \ assembly folder looks completely empty. He let me out the first time I saw it.

I manually start / stop Resharper 5 in the VS 2008 Command Window. Steps:

  • Press " Ctrl + Alt + A " to open the "Command Window"
  • Run the ReSharper_ToggleSuspended command to unload Resharper
  • Install your assembly (WSP Builder → Copy to GAC)
  • Run the ReSharper_Resume or ReSharper_ToggleSuspended command to start Resharper

I am using Visual Studio 2008 with Resharper 4.5 and VSeWSS 1.3 CTP March for Sharepoint and everything works fine, how do you refer to assemblies in your project? What kind of SharePoint development are you doing?

You cannot prevent this. It is good practice to create a shadow copy for locked assemblies.
