GWT Stock Watcher - Poll Not Push?

In the GWT Stock Watch tutorial, it seems that every 4 seconds it polls the server for new data. Is this the standard way GWT works, or can you use push-type technology so that when a new event occurs on the server, the client code is called?

This is the standard way GWT works. There is a page in the incubator describing how you can get the push using GWT .

The concept of a push server (aka COMET) can be achieved using GWT. You should check out the Stream Hub. So far it is closed, but I believe that it is active. Hope they open source :).
