Deploy .asmx web service (not WCF) on windows 7

I need to deploy the old .asmx asp.net web service (not WCF) on a Windows 7 machine for testing reasons. However, it seems that simply deploying it to a virtual directory or a new website in IIS will not be reduced as if it were used to return to xp.

What should I do? I need to test the service locally before deploying it, and so far it makes my task difficult.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Deploying to a virtual directory should work the same as in XP ... with one minor change.

The default behavior in IIS7 is to use the "Integrated" managed pipeline mode for your application pools. Most likely, you just need to change this to the "classic" mode of managed pipelines (or switch your web service to use the built-in application pool "Classic ASP.NET").
