How do I add a download manager URL to a Chrome extension?

I am working on an extension that checks for specific URLs in the contents of a page and allows the user to place a button to automatically place them in the download manager. I got everything I need, but how can I tell Chrome to put the url in the download queue?

You cannot, it has not yet been supported. There are no extensions for the Chrome Download Manager.
