SFTP and FTP are completely different protocols.
Basically, the following file transfer protocols exist:
FTP is a simple old FTP protocol that has existed since the 1970s. Abbreviation stands for File Transfer Protocol. It usually goes through TCP port 21.
SFTP is another, completely different file transfer protocol that has nothing to do with FTP. SFTP goes through an SSH session, usually on TCP port 22. It has existed since the late 1990s. The abbreviation actually means "SSH File Transfer Protocol."
FTPS or FTP / SSL - a simple, old FTP protocol works through a secure TLS / SSL communication channel. The ratio of FTP and FTPS is the same as the ratio of HTTP and HTTPS to each other.
Secure FTP - depending on the context. Sometimes this means FTPS, sometimes SFTP.
