How to launch a war in Tomcat 6

Question

I used Jboss and the deployment happens, casting aside the war for folder deployment. But when I installed my military project on the Tomcat server, eclipse claims that it is deploying a war, but I do not see my war in the webapps folder. And what url for my war? In jboss, I can add the application URL to jboss-web.xml, so when I set the application path to jboss-web.xml, I can find my application from http: // localhost: 8080 / my_app_path_in_jboss_web.xml / .

I constantly use WARs for webapps dir without any problems, maybe ~ 25 times a day. You should not have any problems with this. If you want more control in all ways to expand the directory yourself, this will likely require a reboot.

Using ant simplifies the task. Here is the ant build.xml file that I use to deploy to tomcat 6. (note, I was not the original author of this, but I forgot where I got it from)

If I understood correctly, you configured eclipse to use Tomcat by adding a new Server. In this case, eclipse deploys the war file in a folder inside your workspace, and not in $ TOMCAT_HOME / webapps. I can’t remember the path in the eclipse workspace folder from the top of my head - it must be something that contains tmp, server, ...

You have added the Tomcat server in eclipse, eclipse launches a WAR file in your workspace. Eclipse is not using your% TOMCAT_HOME%. To see your WAR in the webapps folder, just add it there. Then you can start the war from the local host.
