Py2exe and win32com

Can py2exe create standalone executables, even those that require a win32com package?

I googled / search SO to no avail.

I used py2exe for a project that depended on win32com as well as pysvn . It worked fine, no problem.

This was using Python 2.5 and later 2.6. Note that py2exe does not support Python 3.x.

Yes it is possible. But you may need to add referees to the DLLs that your application needs. Check out the bottom of http://www.py2exe.org/index.cgi/WorkingWithVariousPackagesAndModules . It contains useful resources for building Python applications using win32com.

Also, if you use typelibs, make sure that the version is the same for all versions of Windows that you want to deploy. Otherwise, your application may crash.
