Java JRE 64-bit for Windows?

I am working on a website project with a Java component and am currently testing browser compatibility. Most of them are fine, but some of Java does not load in 64-bit browsers. It looks like I need a 64 bit JRE for testing. Where can I download the (stand-alone) 64-bit Java runtime installer for Windows?

The official download page is here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If I'm not blind, there is nothing 64-bit for Windows, except for a link to notes. The indicated notes are here: http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml#Java%20for%2064-bit

Especially relevant excerpt:

"Users must download 64-bit Java software if they work with 64-bit IE. To download 64-bit Java, click 64-bit download manually

The only standalone installer, as far as I can tell, has only installed a 32-bit runtime. Then we go back to the square! Am I missing something or am I losing my mind?

Can this be the download you are looking for ?

  • Go to Java SE Downloads .
  • Scroll down to view the main table with the heading "Java Platform, Standard Edition."
  • Click the JRE download button (JRE is the runtime component. JDK is the developer's kit).
  • Select the desired download (all platforms and 32/64 download bits are indicated)

I believe that the link below will always give you the latest version of the 64-bit JRE http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=43883

The trick is to visit the original page using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. Then the site will offer you the appropriate download options.

You can also just search on sites such as Tucows and CNET, they have there too.
