SVN on web hosting

I recently got into SVN. I decided that I want to install the SVN server on my web hosting. My master is godaddy. So here is my question: How to install SVN on godaddy. I can use SSH on the server, and Red Hat 4 is running on the server. Any suggestions?

I would like to contact godaddy to find out if they support this. It really depends on the web host to support such an application.

I have not used GoDaddy for this. However, you must install it using yum or binaries at http://www.collab.net/downloads/subversion/redhat.html . See Also this previous SO question .

After you installed it, you can configure the server to talk svn + ssh

EDIT: Do you have root access at all (e.g. su)? If so, try bundling the packages that I bundled. If not, you may need to consult with GoDaddy.

Depends on the type of web hosting. If you have HTTP shared hosting, you can get away with downloading it to the SSH shell by building it and then installing it in your local directory. Then you can get something like the CGI viewsvn engine and point it to your own subroutine executables.

I had to do this recently with git and gitweb at 1and1.com. It is definitely possible. Perhaps this is not as flexible as having your own server, and you cannot make Subversion DAVFS work (which is a crying shame).

On redhat ES4, if you have root access, ssh to the server and run "yum install svn". This should extract and install all packages and necessary dependencies.
