Visual Studio 2015 is pre-release software. This license has expired.

I installed Visual Studio 2015 with .ISO, which works for a colleague. When I opened the application, I signed up for my MSDN account, which has an Active subscription.

However, the following screen saver is presented to me:

enter image description here

License: preliminary software. This license has expired.

I have no choice, but I have to close it (clicking the Close button closes Visual Studio completely) - although I can generate a license key via MSDN I have no way to enter it .

Any ideas?

Go to "Programs and Features" and edit the installation of Visual Studio 2015. After restoring the installation, you can successfully open the program.

I had the same problem today and these steps worked for me.

For me, this was due to a Time / Timezone error. My computer time was set at 06:27, when the actual time was 14:27.

Setting the time and time zone to the correct values made by VS work again.

I solved this problem by getting a new Microsoft account at http://www.microsoft.com and singing in Visual Studio.

[EDIT]:

This is the only thing . In the end, I had to work with this problem in Visual Studio Community 2017!

Below is the original material that SHOULD NOT work for me:

I had an EXACT problem with Visual Studio 2017!

"Pre-release software. This license has expired."

I tried all the above And a bunch of things that you are likely to find BELOW this Google search result (i.e. people at Microsoft, it seems, cannot fix the error either!). DO NOT do what I did and try to remove all your VS-related applications, as well as .NET and Visual C ++ distributions, and then restore / reinstall VS, etc.! NOT REQUIRED (as some people suggested) and a complete waste of time!

  • FIX --- Delete the wrong product key!

  • Open Register Editor
    • Start menu β†’ Search regedit β†’ Right click β†’ Run as administrator
  • Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Licenses\5C505A59-E312-4B89-9508-E162F8150517 and delete it
    • Back up first if you want ...
  • Performing a repair installation VS 2017

Boom! Jump for joy! I was shocked by this for several days, creating an old machine as a new machine for developers ... apparently I had an outdated license! Hope this helps everyone who appears here!

[Edit] It seems that he returned after rebooting the machine, and now the problem remains ...

Close the IDE, go and create your free Visual Studio Online account. ( https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/what-is-visual-studio-online-vs - I hope the link works) Open the IDE and click on "Check for updated license." .

Log in to this account, and I hope it works, as with my VS - "License uploaded successfully."

The license synchronizes all VS and devices.
