Visual Studio 6 processor compatibility

I saw that a processor package is available for Visual Studio 6, however it is only available to users with SP5, and I already use SP6:

In addition, Visual C ++ Service Pack (VCPP) has been removed from Service Pack 6. If you have VCPP installed, installing SP6 will remove it from your device. If you want to continue using VCPP, you will need to stay with Service Pack 5 or upgrade to Visual Studio 2002 or 2003 (recommended).

First, is this processor package compatible with Visual Studio 6 SP6?

Secondly, will it really help me? I'm interested in getting the most out of my application, but it should work on all tastes of Intel and AMD chips, so I can’t just target on one platform.

It looks like the key was in the question:

I am going to upgrade to the new version of Visual Studio.

System Restore, I just ran into this problem and found this Microsoft KB article (872907): You get the message "ERROR: This version of the Processor Pack will only ... It is for VB, but I assume that it applies to VC ++ too It seems that he installed everything in order. As soon as I get all the settings and compilation, I hope it really installed normally.

Solution: Change the latest registry key << 21> 5 instead of 6 .

Installing a service pack stops complaining.

I think the processor package is already integrated with SP6, as stated in the next document .
