Can an Adobe AIR application run a popup in the system tray?

Question

For example, if I wrote a calendar application on top of AIR, say using Flex, can this application pop up reminder windows to make appointments closer, like Microsoft Outlook can?

Clarification: can these windows be actual dialogs where I can enter and save information?

Twhirl displays notification “toasts” (similar to most instant messengers) while it is running in the system tray.

There are hints with notification hints, but this method goes out of use with systray icons in Windows 7, and it's not a cross platform. Unfortunately, you can only call this in the Win32 API using Shell_NotifyIcon, and there is no way to get to it from Air.

Stuck by creating custom toaster popups.
