The Pending Checks window is stuck; never completes update

I had a strange problem in Visual Studio 2008, where my Pending Validation window never refreshes. I open it and it says “Update ...” as usual, but I never see the message “X remaining” and nothing happens. He just sits there, doing nothing.

The material being scanned is still displayed as extracted in Solution Explorer. SourceSafe 2005 is still working as usual.

Any ideas?

Hooray! I have found a solution. For anyone who stumbles about it, here's the deal.

Today I found that the window of pending checks was not broken for all solutions, but only for a specific one. In addition, although I did not understand that this was related, every time I opened the solution, I received:

"Some solution related properties could not be read.

The solution I found was here . Turns out I had two

GlobalSection(SourceCodeControl) = preSolution

in the solution file (.sln). I deleted the second (which had a long list of projects, but also some gibberish in it), and the message went away and the Pending Checkins window now works fine.

Have you tried the Visual SourceSafe 2005 Update patch?
