File Format CF10-jpg

While working on a tool that allows you to exchange images of several third-party applications and thereby create separate “skins” for these applications, I came across a jpg format about which I can not find decent information.

When you look at it in a hex editor, it starts with the tag "CF10". An Internet search provided only a tool capable of processing such files without any additional information.

Does anyone have additional information about this type of jpg format?

file(1) should provide you with useful information. You can also use ImageMagick identify(1) (optionally with the -verbose option) to get more detailed information about the file. See the Example on this page for a good idea of what information it provides.

CF stands for "compression ratio." CF-10 means a factor of ten, and I don’t think it is different from any “standard” jpeg.

DROID gives this as "JTIP (JPEG Image Tiling Pyramid)". Some information from http://www.bcr.org/cdp/digitaltb/digital_imaging/formats.html :

JTIP (JPEG image tile pyramid) is similar to GridPrix. It offers several levels of higher and higher resolution. Each layer is further divided into tiles. The user can scale these fragments or request a corresponding tile with a higher resolution.
