Electron Does Not Download Netflix Even With Full-Featured Widevine Plugin

Question

I have a side project that plays Netflix, and suddenly it stops working and starts showing this error.

I didn’t update anything on my side, it just stopped working on the part of Netflix (I think).

I am using Electron 1.8.4, I tried upgrading Electron to the latest version 2.0.0beta-5 without success.

I also tried using the Widevine plugin from Chrome 59 to 62, and even the one that came out of the Brave browser, without success.

I created a small repository to easily reproduce the problem.

It also allows you to download Shaka Player and Bitmovin DRM tests, so you can ensure that the Widevine plugin loads correctly:

git clone [e-mail] :yoannmoinet/netflix-and-electron.git cd netflix-and-electron npm install npm start 

I also discovered a problem with Electron to get help there.

I really got stuck there, thank you so much for your help.

EDIT:

It seems that Netflix has recently introduced new support for the VMP protocol (proven media path) in the Widevine CDM browser. Thus, small players / browsers will not be able to play DRM content without the correct, white, widescreen CDM installation from Google.

I contacted them to find out what are the steps to get it.
