Href = "tel:" and toll free numbers (0800).

I have a UK client with a free and standard phone number. There are two interactive links on their site <a href="tel:"/> respectively:

  <a href="tel:0800000000">0800 000 000</a> <a href="tel:+441462000000">+44 1462 000000</a>

When you click on a toll free number, different devices handle this differently. My client has an Apple phone that shares the leading 0 and adds +44 (UK code), which means I can’t dial the number. The same thing happens with Skype. On my Android device, the number is dialed by clicking.

Is there a way to account for this behavior of a particular device?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried with the WTAI URI ?:

 <a href="wtai://wp/mc;0800000000">Call 0800-000-000</a>

I hope this work is for you!

Keep swinging!
