Getting data from Yahoo Finance

I read about YQL, but I did not understand how I can get some simple data (for example, company ticker, market capitalization, share price, etc.) for ALL COMPANIES?

And another question, how can I get all the Yahoo Finance tables and their fields that can be requested by YQL?

To your first question, you cannot really make any queries through YQL to get data for all companies. It is more focused on getting data for a smaller query. (That is, it will not give you a complete dump of data from the entire Yahoo! Finance database.)

To your second question, here is how you can start learning Yahoo! Financial Tables in YQL:

  • Start with the YQL Console
  • In the upper left corner, make sure Show Community Tables are checked.
  • Type finance in the search field
  • You will see all the Yahoo Finance tables (about 15)

Then you can try some sample queries, for example:

select * from yahoo.finance.quote where symbol in ("YHOO","AAPL","GOOG","MSFT")

Update 2016-04-04: the current screenshot is displayed here showing the location of the "Show Community Tables" table that you need to click to see these financial tables: enter image description here

As from the answer from BrianC, use the YQL console. But after selecting "Show community tables", go to the bottom of the table list and expand yahoo, where you will find many yahoo.finance tables:

Stock quotes:

  • yahoo.finance.quotes
  • yahoo.finance.historicaldata li>

Fundamental analysis:

  • yahoo.finance.keystats
  • yahoo.finance.balancesheet
  • yahoo.finance.incomestatement
  • yahoo.finance.analystestimates
  • yahoo.finance.dividendhistory

Technical analysis:

  • yahoo.finance.historicaldata li>
  • yahoo.finance.quotes
  • yahoo.finance.quant
  • yahoo.finance.option *

General financial information:

  • yahoo.finance.industry
  • yahoo.finance.sectors
  • yahoo.finance.isin
  • yahoo.finance.quoteslist
  • yahoo.finance.xchange

Since Yahoo Finances API was disabled, I found the Alpha Vantage API

Here is an example of a standard query that I use with Excel Power Query:
