A simple application built with laravel?

I am looking at getting into laravel, it seems like a terrific structure, but there seems to be one important piece of documentation missing. Textbook "Getting Started".

A simple tutorial blog or similar or even an open source application built on top of laravel. Does anyone have links to some good tutorials or resources for laravel?

I met this tutorial on net currents , but it jumps very quickly. I was hoping there would be a textbook that would be more in-depth.

Of course, there is official documentation, but again this is an overview of what you can use, it doesn’t really tell you how to use them.

I am Nikko Bautista, author of the Nettuts + lessons. I actually stopped writing the series, as I thought Laravel 4 should be soon. I found out that it will be released next year, so I will also finish the other parts of the series.

In any case, if you are looking for an application that is built using Laravel, you can check out this open source application that I created as part of a hackathon in the Philippines. This is called "Bukas Palad" (which means "Open palm trees" in the Tagalog). It is a donation and resource management system designed to help donation and assistance centers track donations and resources (this hackton occurred during one of the major storms in the Philippines in 2012).

The code can be found here: http://webpilipinas.github.com/bukaspalad/

It actually uses many Laravel components:

  • Migration
  • Eloquent ORM
  • Free query designer
  • Developments
  • Routing
  • Browse composers
  • Asset Management
  • REST based controllers
  • Session
  • Check
  • Inputs

If you have any questions, feel free to create problems on the GitHub page or ask here :)

I created several of these comprehensive tutorials back in Laravel 3 times and packaged them in a Udemy course. I did the course for free a couple of months ago. These tutorials are still pretty much applicable to Laravel 4 to exclude very few syntax changes, maybe while you follow them you can figure out the changes in the documents:

http://udemy.com/develop-web-apps-with-laravel-php-framework/

Check them out and let me know if you need more, I constantly post Laravel tutorials on my blog.
