Android (Pixel 2) does not connect to MacBook Pro via USB without restarting the computer

I need to restart my computer so that Android finds out that it is connected to my computer. A sleeping computer seems to require a restart, even after resetting the NVRAM.

If Android is not connected to the computer, connecting the USB cable back will not help. Also, the phone does not restart, the USB mode does not change in the developer’s settings from “Charging” to “PTP” or other modes. Also does not kill adb and does not start it again.

First you need to enable developer mode and USB debugging. See https://www.bestusefultips.com/enable-developer-mode-on-pixel-2-pixel-2-xl/

After that, you can see your device using the adb devices -l shell adb devices -l .
