What is the difference between a goal and a Slack channel theme?

I am new to Slack and just created my first channel. When setting up the channel, I added a goal, but after creating it, there is a place to add a theme. What is the difference between the purpose of the channel and the topic? They seem the same.

From Weak Documentation :

Channel Theme

The channel theme is displayed in the channel header, and any channel can change it. This is a quick way to tell people that channel members are working, or important dates, such as project dates.

Channel Goal

The purpose of the channel is a brief description of the intended use of the channel. It appears on the desktop when members view channels and in the channel details panel.

Therefore, the goal should be the overall long-term goal of the channel, while the topic is intended to use more current information.

In addition, there are also sticky messages acting as a kind of second-class topic.

Technically, there is no difference. If you want to use chat software with a working Channel + Topics model, check out Zulip .

At the most dying of the form factors, the desktop, the β€œtopic” informs the participants about the channel’s stated topic. For all other form factors, this is pretty hard to find.

On the most dying form factor, the desktop, the β€œtarget” informs participants watching random channels with the specified channel purpose. For all other form factors, this is pretty hard to find.
