ACME (the company (which) does everything) is a fictitious company from Looney Tunes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acme_Corporation

It is used as a placeholder name (for example, "foo", "bar", etc.).

ACME is the root namespace name of these standard packages. You must identify the code in it as the code that you write yourself, and not the code of the frame itself, which you should not touch.

You will find the use of this namespace as outlined in the introductory chapter of The Big Picture (archive copy).

He used an example, he hints that this is the name of your company, see Acme Corporation on Wikipedia for some cultural references.

But of course, Symfony2 is neither a computer game, nor a fictional movie, so it is probably difficult to draw this line of communication.

ACME is a simple fun way to either assume that it is a "Company (which) does everything" instead of a company called foo or baz . Although this has something to do with the cartoon, the term has had a great search trend from the very beginning of Google Trends.
