Eclipse Oxygen - problem with adding JRE / JDK 9

Question

When trying to add JDK 9, the following error appears. It works with JDK 8 but not JDK 9.

Please inform.

Add Java 9 support for Oxygen. Read the link. The explicit stable release of Java 9 is only launched today. Thus, it is not yet available in the Oxygen base package. If you are in a hurry to use Java 9 with Eclipse, you can download the support patch from the market.

The official version of eclipse supporting Java 9, v4.7.1a (note the “a” at the end)

I had the same problem. I downloaded the latest Eclipse 4.7.1 and was unable to add JRE / JDK 9.

This is what I did to solve the problem: Help → Check for Updates. Three updates were found. I installed the first one, "Eclipse for RCP and RAP Developers", and voilà!

I could finally add JRE / JDK 9. It worked through the "Add ..." and "Search ..." buttons.
