Failed to load Apple Developer keys after initial creation

In my Apple Developer account, I created a key for use with APN in all my applications. When created, it allows me to download it as soon as I finish. After that, the download button is grayed out and I cannot download it again. Presumably this is by design.

Can someone tell me why it does not allow second boot as you can for certificates / profiles?

You cannot reload the iOS Push Notification Auth key. Only the public key is retained by Apple and the private key that you save and protect.

See the documentation section Trust provider connectivity to APN .

Trust token-based provider connection: A provider using the HTTP / 2-based API can use JSON Web Tokens (JWT) to provide verification credentials for connecting to APN. In this scheme, you provide the public key that Apple must keep and the private key that you keep and protect.

You can also see a warning when creating an Auth key.

Download and backup After downloading your key, it cannot be reloaded when you delete a copy of the server . If you are not prepared to download your key at this time, click Finish and download it at a later time. Be sure to keep a backup of your key in a safe place.
