Android Studio does not ask me about the target device

In my launch configuration for the application, I have "use the same device for future launches" without a mark , although it always works for the same purpose until I destroy the process itself or the assembly fails. It doesn't matter if I run new emulator instances along the way.

Is this a bug in AS? Can I get around it a little cleaner than kill the process?

First make sure that you Stop the application, and then Run , then a request appears asking for the target device.

I am using macOS Sierra, I am looking at the following path to change the settings if I encounter the problem you were talking about.

Run> Change Configurations> Application> Target Deployment Options.

Starting with Android Studio 3.5, you can select a deployment target from the drop-down menu on the toolbar. A big plus: you can work on multiple devices at a time.
