When you sign up for a Google Play signature, you provide Google with a signature key that will be used when packaging the application for distribution to users. This is the key you used to sign your releases for publication. After you complete the registration in the Signing application, you will no longer use this key.
As part of the registration, you also received a new download key from Google, which is only used between you and Google. When you create an APK for future publication, you must sign it with this new download key, not the original signature key. It seems that the error message indicates that you signed the APK with your original signature key, and this does not match the downloadable key that they expected.
