Apple - iOS - Testing on iOS 10.3 with Xcode 8.2.1

I have a MacBook with El Capitan installed on it. I canโ€™t go to Sierra! Because of this, I cannot install Xcode 8.3 .

Now I need to test the application with iOS 10.3 , but I canโ€™t build it with XCode 8.2.1 for iOS 10.3. I have a pyhsical device with iOS 10.3, but Xcode will not allow me to run it on this device.

So what's now?

Doing this is still possible with this simple method:

  • Download the latest Xcode
  • Right-click the downloaded Xcode.app , select Show Package Contents. Go to the subfolder Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
  • Move the 10.3 folder to the same location in the local installation of Xcode 8.2.1.

Do not be disappointed. There is one way.

If you have access to any of the Macs running the latest xcode and modern simulators, go to this directory, copy the simulators you need and go to the same directory in OSX .

Then you can run the application on the latest simulator and updated physical device!

 /Applications/Xcode8.3.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform

Unfortunately, you are out of luck. Since this answer indicates that iOS 10.3 requires Xcode 8.3 or more, which in turn requires macOS Sierra.
