Some keys do not work properly in MySQL Workbench for Mac

I am using MySQL Workbench 6.3.9 for Mac and I had an unexpected problem. When writing SQL in an editor (any editor), it will not accept my quotes (single or double) and some other special characters ... To enter a single quote, I need to hold down the Control key and then enter a single quote ...

Is this a problem? Is there a solution for this?

This is a bug in version 6.3.9 for Mac. Quotes will only work if you use the standard US keyboard layout.

But you can only configure Workbench to use the US keyboard layout while keeping others app with your native layout:

  • Go to System Preferences> Keyboard> Input Sources
  • Enable cockpit keyboard layout (your and US)
  • Check the box "Show input menu bar" and "Automatically switch to document input source"
  • Then, with the MySQLWorkbench application active, change your US keychain using the icon on the Mac menu bar

This is not the most charming decision. But it works.

I think this is the problem of this version. I returned to version 2.5.3, it works well!
