Does every screen reader have a preferred browser? (i.e. JAWS, Voiceover, NVDA, etc.)

I understand more about how to make my code more accessible, but recently I came across a Chase accessibility expression which says that the JAWS screen reader prefers to use Internet Explorer, and NVDA works better with FireFox.

Since none of them are installed on my computer, at first I am interested to know if each program has a preference for which browser to use? And secondly, if they have a preference - are there certain functions of each program that do not work in other browsers?

Question: What are some of the things I should know about when developing for these programs?

EDIT: Steveax shared a huge source of information on this subject if you were able to find the answer to the same question.
