PhoneGap "Hello World" app stuck on "Connect to device"

Background Information and Problem

I downloaded the PhoneGap Desktop app for OSX, following the instructions here: http://docs.phonegap.com/getting-started/1-install-phonegap/desktop/

I installed the PhoneGap app for iOS.

I ensured that my laptop and iPhone are on the same network (without a firewall).

I created a new Hello World project using the PhoneGap Desktop app.

I managed to launch the application through a desktop application and then successfully connect to the web server using the iOS application.

However, it seems that the deviceready function does not start - the "Hello World" application is stuck in the eternal state of Connecting to device . He never says Device is ready .

Additional notes ...

I tried to solve this problem by following the directions in this post: Cordova application freezing during launch on iOS 10 (beta)

If I press the home button on my iPhone and restart the PhoneGap application again, it says Device is ready .

I am running OSX 10.10 and iOS 10.0.1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
