How to create "divine rays"?

I would like to create an effect / illumination of divine rays on a three-dimensional figure. If I have a Box , I would like for it to have a light source that will create β€œdivine rays” around it. Below is the image that I found showing the idea (imagine a window as an opaque box and rays coming from all directions):

I tried to set the PointLight source, but all the lights are solid objects, so you cannot see the effect around them. My suggestion would be to fill the area around the mold with some kind of airy, partially transparent material that absorbs the mold; and that light can reflect off.

How can I start creating "divine rays"?
