E185: Cannot find color scheme *

I set up my vimrc file, but for some reason no colors work. Whenever I try to change the color scheme, it just gives me:

E185: Cannot find color scheme '*'

I checked the color folder to make sure that I have colors, and I do it. For example, the first item in the color folder is blue.vim , but when I put colorscheme blue in vimrc, it just gives

E185: Cannot find color scheme 'blue'

when I start Vim and the color scheme is not applied. I also tried changing the color scheme from Vim, and it also returns the same error. All other vimrc options that I tried work so far.

This sounds like a problem with your 'runtimepath' parameter. If you use the plugin manager, they usually extend this. The default location should be ~/.vim/colors . Please check

 :set runtimepath?

There should be ~/.vim (or equivalent).

If all else fails, you can also simply :source /full/path/to/your/color.vim

This worked for me by removing the extension from the colorscheme file.

Try renaming blue.vim to blue .
