Inline Disable Firefox Spell Checker?

I researched this a while ago and cannot remember how to do it. I want Firefox not to run the spell check feature in certain input fields on the page. I know that this is possible, but I don’t remember how to configure it.

Talk about having a great moment of "spirit"! I found the answer after trial and error:

<textarea spellcheck="false"></textarea>

The spellcheck attribute is currently an optional feature available only in Firefox, but it is considered for inclusion in HTML5 .

add attribute using jquery $ ('. textarea_className'). attr ('spellcheck', false);

This will allow you to return a valid XHTML mark. =)

The disadvantage of this is that the strict W3 validator gives - the spell check attribute is not a valid attribute. The bad news is for those of us with OCD who like to see 0 errors in checking our sites.
