How to add gzip command in Windows CMD?

On Mac, if I want a gzip file, I just type gzip and then the file name. If I do this in windows, he tells me that "gzip is not recognized ...".

How to add this functionality in Windows?

How to add gzip to CMD

Step 1: Download and Install Cygwin

Step 2: Click โ€œStartโ€ and enter โ€œSystem Variablesโ€

Step 3: On the Advanced tab, click "Environment Variables ..."

Step 4: In the "User Variables for (User)" section, select the Path variable and click "Change ..."

Step 5: In the "Edit Environment Variable" window, click "Create"

Step 6:

  • For x86, type: C: \ cygwin \ bin
  • For x64, type: C: \ cygwin64 \ bin

Step 7: Restart CMD, enter gzip and shout "Wooooo!"

This question is asked here , but the question and the accepted answer are not very simple. It is assumed that you know what system environment variables are, how to edit them, and what Cygwin is. I wanted to write clear instructions for those who could not understand this information.
